Find a roommate without rushing trust

A strong match score or verification badge can be useful, but neither guarantees that a person or property is safe. Take your time and verify important details independently.

Before you meet or pay

1

Stay on-platform

Keep early conversations in RoomMatch and do not share sensitive documents.

2

Meet publicly

Meet in a public place first and tell someone you trust where you are going.

3

Verify the home

See the property, confirm who owns or manages it, and read the agreement before paying.

Community Rules

These rules apply to profiles, messages, meetings, and property discussions connected through RoomMatch.

Adults only

You must be at least 18 years old to use RoomMatch.

Be truthful

Use your own information and do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent a property.

Respect everyone

No harassment, threats, sexual pressure, hate, discrimination, or repeated unwanted contact.

No scams or pressure

Do not request money, deposits, identity documents, or financial details through RoomMatch.

Protect privacy

Do not publish someone else's private information or share conversations without a legitimate reason.

Use safety tools honestly

Report genuine concerns and do not misuse reporting or blocking to target another person.

Report or block

Open Safety on any profile or conversation. Blocks and reports are stored securely in RoomMatch’s database. Reports are private, are not shown to the reported person, and can be reviewed only by authorized RoomMatch staff.

Immediate danger: contact local emergency services. Do not rely on an in-app report for urgent help.

Blocked profiles

Blocked people cannot appear in your Browse, Connections, or Messages. This is the only place where you can unblock them.

You have not blocked anyone.
